Automated Existence Part I

This is part one of a multi part series about automating the most mundane parts of your life.  I want to show everyone that the chores that you dislike don't necessarily have to be disliked.

Today's entry is called the Scrubbing Bubbles Automatic Shower Cleaner.  I found this little puppy at Wal-Mart for about $20.00.  It came with 1 or 2 bottles of the cleaning solution (I really can't remember.)  You can buy additional bottles of the cleaning solution for less than $4.00 per bottle.  This device hangs by your shower head and when you are finished with your shower you push the small blue button on the front.  It has a delay of about 15 seconds for you to get out of the line of fire.  After the timer has expired the small nozzle on the bottom will spray about 20 seconds worth of cleaning solution all over your shower.  If you use it once per day (which you could probably get away with once every other day) you would have enough solution for about a full month.

It gets its power from 4 AA batteries (batteries included) that are stored on the back of the unit in a dry place.  I have been using it for just under 2 months and I have yet to change the batteries.  The only downside that I can see is that while the unit is spraying cleaning solution it tends to get pretty loud.  If you used the device early enough in the morning it could wake someone up.

Stay tuned for more Automated Existence entries in my blog in the near future.  Below is my personal rating for this device.

Cost:

(4.5 out of 5)

The cleaning unit is pretty cheap but the solution can get pricy if you use the device everyday.

Result:

(the coveted 5 out of 5)

You don't have to clean you freaking shower anymore.  Heck Yah!!!

Maintenance:

  (3 out of 5)

Other than changing the batteries once in a while and changing the solution once a month that is about it.  Why not make the unit have rechargeable batteries and it gets it power from the passing water like a hydro-electric dam.  Now that would be cool.

Overall:

(4 out of 5)

A few improvements here and there and this would be a perfect little device.
